The giant
totara that towers over the forest in light begins as a shoot in the shade of
the forest floor. This is the story of our faith. It starts small but it is
called to be great. Through the centuries the Christian faith has had times of
darkness and it has had time of great light. It has times where faith seems to
die; It has time when faith grows again from little shoots. 176 year ago Bishop
Pompallier celebrated mass in Tauranga Moana. 36 years ago the Diocese of
Hamilton was formed. This year at 10:30am on the 4th of December, a
Miha Māori will be celebrated for the first time in our Cathedral in Hamilton.
Come and be part of this day as new shoots spring forth in the life of the
Christian family that is the Catholic diocese of Hamilton.
