Room 11 learn about and celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Light.

The children chopped almonds, smashed cardamon, slightly roasted semolina and coconut together, made syrup from sugar and water, melted ghee and mixed it together in a bowl with some raisins. Once the mix had cooled they rolled them into balls, ready to eat! A big thank you to Pinky Jadav for all her help in making our ladoo sweets.
Later on everyone participated in making a Rangoli flower pattern using blossoms we gathered.
When the pattern was finished we took it outside so the wind could blow the flower petals away. It was a lovely way to finish our learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, which celebrates good triumphing over evil.

Room 11 before the Icon of The Disciples on the Road to Emmaus
The Icon of The Disciples on the Road to Emmaus, commissioned by Bishop Steve as a focus for With Burning Hearts, was in the parish for the first week of Term 4. During the week the staff and students have spent time in prayer before the Icon. The two senior classes and the staff also spent time learning the meaning of some of the parts of the Icon, as well as taking time to sketch the face of Jesus Christ as depicted in the Icon.
