Special Character Leaders

In the first week of the school holidays the Special Character Leaders attended the Oil of Chrism Mass, in Hamilton, on behalf of Tongariro Catholic and collected the oils for Taupo and Turangi parishes. During this mass the priests from around the diocese also gather to renew their vows, which is a special moment to witness. Due to the holidays, we were the only school to attend from across the diocese. Prior to attending the mass, the Special Character Leaders dropped off children’s books (that last year’s Young Vinnies had purchased) at the Hamilton Resettlement Centre. A huge thank you to Msgr Trevor who shouted dinner that night.

Parent/Parish Evening celebrating the Jesus Strand

On Thursday night (11th April) the school and parish community gathered to celebrate what the students had been learning in the Jesus Strand. Classes presented a range of artwork about their learning and presented songs and an amazing dramatisation of the Life of Jesus by Room 9. It was a great night of celebration. Thank you to all the students and staff for all their hard work!

Eisteddfod Scripture Reading Challenge

On Thursday 11th April a number of Y2-8 students representing their classes presented their Eisteddfod Scripture Reading to the school and parish community. Mr John Coulam from the Hamilton Diocese was the guest of honour. By participating in the Eisteddfod Challenge throughout the year our students gain much needed skills and confidence in public speaking. This has resulted in a large number of our students being Ministers of the Word and Presenters at Sunday mass.
